Rummy scoring — questions and answers

How is Indian rummy scored?+

The player who makes a valid declaration wins the round and scores 0. Everyone else gets penalty points for the cards not in valid sets or sequences: aces, kings, queens and jacks count 10 each, number cards count their face value, and a hand is capped at 80. A first drop is 20 points and a middle drop is 40.

What are Pool 101 and Pool 201?+

In pool rummy the points from every round add up. A player whose total reaches 101 (or 201) is out, and the last player still in wins. In Pool 201 a first drop costs 25 points and a middle drop 50. Pick the pool when you start and players are marked out automatically.

Who is leading — the lowest or the highest score?+

The lowest. Rummy points are penalties, so the player with the lowest total is always shown as the leader, with a crown beside the name. The target score is the high score nobody wants to reach: a player who gets there is out.

Can I set my own target score and rules?+

Yes, for every game. When you start one, pick 101, 201, any custom target, or no limit. Under More options you can change the first drop, middle drop and full count, and fix the number of rounds so the game ends by itself. All of it can be changed later in Game Settings.

What is the fastest way to enter a round?+

Tap a quick score (Win 0, Drop 20, Mid 40, Full 80) and it fills the highlighted player and moves to the next one. Or type a score and press Next or Enter to move down the list; Enter on the last box saves the round. You can leave the winner blank — when every other player has points, the empty box is saved as 0.

Can I fix a wrong score?+

Yes. Undo takes back the last change and puts the scores back in the boxes. For an older round, open History, tap the round, and edit or delete it. All totals are recalculated straight away.

Will I lose the game if I close the page?+

No. The game is saved in your browser on this device after every change, so a refresh or a closed tab brings it back. Nothing is sent to a server and no account is needed. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Can I go back to an earlier game?+

Yes. All games lists the game in progress and your last 20 games, each with who won or who is leading, every player’s score, the date and how long it took. Tap Continue to carry on with any of them, or Rounds to read it without opening it. Games are numbered (Game 1, Game 2…) unless you name them, and the pencil on a card renames any of them.

Can someone join or leave in the middle of a game?+

Yes. In Players you can add a player with a starting score, rename anyone, change the seating order, or remove a player. Removing a player also removes their scores from earlier rounds.

Is the rummy score keeper free?+

Yes. It is free, works on any phone, tablet or computer, and has no sign-up.
